Eucalyptus alba, or white gum, is a species of Eucalyptus which is native to Australia, Timor, and New Guinea. A dominant tree of open woodland, it reaches 18 m (60 ft) high with a spread of up to 15 m (50 ft).
It grows as a small to medium tree from 5 to 18 m high with a spreading crown of 5 to 15 m. The short trunk is often bent and has smooth grey to white powdery bark. Freshly-exposed new bark is pink.
A dominant tree in open woodlands, it is found from northeastern Western Australia across the Top End and into Queensland, as well as New Guinea and Timor. It is often found on ridges and elevated areas, often on poor soil.
Eucalyptus alba has horticutural appeal as an ornamental tree, and can also attract birds. It has also been used for fencing in northern Australia, while the flowers have been used in the beekeeping industry for honey.
It was valued by aborigines in the Northern Territory for firewood. (info source: wikipedia.org)

Useful Info
Germination1. Place a single paper towel on a flat surface and spread the eucalyptus seeds onto the towel in an even layer. Place another paper towel on top of the seeds and then place the towel and seeds onto a plastic sandwich bag. Pour 2 tablespoons of water into the bag and seal it up.
2. Place the bag into a refrigerator that holds a temperature between 35F (+2C) and 40F (+4C) degrees. Keep the seeds in the refrigerator between one and two months.
3. Fill a seed tray with a potting soil until the compartments are 3/4 full. Place one to two eucalyptus seeds into each compartment and then sprinkle the tops of the seeds with soil until the dirt reaches the top of the seed tray.
4. Water the soil thoroughly with plain tap water.
5. Place the seed tray in a location that receives direct sunlight, and that has a temperature of between 60 and 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep the seeds moist and they should germinate in about one to two weeks.
