A hardy perennial with silvery green clumped foliage and abundant yellow and white flowers displayed prominently in summer. The flower stems have a distinctive winged shape.
This plant is valuable for dried flower bunches and wreathes.
Plant in small groups - it will give an especial good effect in combination with ornamental grass, other annual and perennial decorative or wildflowers.
Cut the stems in a length of 15-20 cm before the flowers are open for drying. Hang in bundles in airy, shady, dry place to get long lasting dried flowers.
In spring, space seedlings 30-40 cm apart in full sun and sandy soil enriched with humus. Keep the soil cultivated, water the plants frequently, and fertilize every other week.
Deadheading encourages continued blooming.
